Coppell residents to open Donatos Pizza franchise in Flower Mound

Donatos Pizza was initially set to open in October but has pushed the opening date to December 10.

Coppell residents, Ralph and Lynne Pence are scheduled to open one of the first Donatos franchises in Texas.

The backstory

“Ralph and Lynne both grew up in the Columbus, Ohio area, where Donatos originated in 1963,” their son Travis Pence said in an email. “Since moving to Texas, they have always longed for a pizza that has golden crispy crust, the perfect amount of sauce and aged provolone cheese with edge-to-edge toppings like Donatos. But, none in the area lived up to these standards.”

Travis Pence will serve as the franchise operator. The family plans to open 2 more locations in the area over the next 5 years.

What’s on the menu

The restaurant serves pizza that features smoked provolone cheese among other key ingredients.

“Our family-recipe pepperoni is made from a premium blend of pork and lean cuts of beef,” the company website states. “And we put 100 pieces on every large pepperoni pizza we make. We use fresh, hand-cut Roma tomatoes, onions and green peppers. And original, family recipe sausage and meatballs.”
