“So many families are struggling just to try to make ends meet that the thought of holiday gifts can be a very stressful thought,” a Nov. 21 NAM news release said.
NAM is seeking to raise $380,000 by the end of 2022 to fund holiday meals for families to enjoy in December. The nonprofit is also holding a toy drive to collect new, unwrapped toys for children age 12 and younger.
NAM is “desperately seeking donations to meet the demand” for donated goods, which has increased by about 30% compared to 2021, according to a Nov. 28 emailed statement from Creative Marketing Communications.
“This holiday season nonprofit organizations across the Houston area, including NAM, are struggling to balance increasing demands for services and assistance with shrinking budgets,” the email statement said.
Toy donations can be dropped off at The Harrell Family Opportunity Center—which is located behind the main NAM building at 15555 Kuykendahl Road, Houston—from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays until Dec. 5.
