All Klein ISD facilities are to remain closed through May 4, according to a March 31 news release. The decision to extend the district-wide closure follows an executive order issued earlier today by Gov. Greg Abbott, which will be in effect until April 30.

According to the release, proms and graduation ceremonies for seniors of the graduating class of 2020 have not been canceled. Should the May 30 graduation at NRG Stadium have to be rescheduled, a virtual commencement will be followed by an in-person ceremony in July at Champion Forest Baptist Church, according to the release.

KISD has already taken action to waive State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, testing requirements for the 2019-20 school year and will continue to offer curbside meals and online at-home learning resources for students.
