During a Sept. 14 regular board meeting, the Klein ISD board unanimously approved a Certification of Compliance, which Texas school districts are required to submit annually beginning with the 2026-27 school year, by Sept. 30.
The board also approved its Three-Year Safety Audit Survey Results and the campus goals and performance objectives.
In addition, Klein ISD trustees discussed a report on the district’s academic progress and performance measured by the state accountability system.
Meeting highlights
During the Sept. 30 regular board meeting, Anthony Indelicato, chief academic officer at Klein ISD, announced several district achievements, including maintaining its ‘B’ rating.
“We are proud of our results for 2026 and pleased to report that Klein ISD continues strong academic momentum, with year-over-year gains,” Indelicato said.
Per previous Community Impact reporting, the Texas Education Agency released the district's A-F ratings Aug. 15, showing KISD maintained its ‘B’ rating with 88 out of 100 points, a two-point increase from the previous year.
Other achievements announced include:
The class of 2026 reached a record $115.3 million in scholarships
136 total distinctions, a 6% increase from the previous year
An increase in advanced courses completed with over 4,000 students earning nearly 22,000 college credit hours, including 81 Associate Degrees
Also of note
While Indelicato said Klein ISD will continue using accountability standards established in 2023, the district will see significant changes to the Texas Assessment Program during next year’s accountability rating reset as a result of House Bill 8.
Changes include replacing the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test with the Student Success Tool, which will increase the number of assessments for students in grades 3-8 from 15 to 51.
