The Smith Ranch Road widening project has been pushed back due to complications with right of way acquisitions, according to city officials. The project is now set to begin in January 2022, with construction wrapping up in October 2022. Construction was originally slated to begin in September.
The project will widen the roadway to four lanes with a shared-use path from Hughes Ranch Road to north of Broadway Street. The project will also convert the asphalt lanes with roadside ditches into concrete roadway with medians.
The project is set to cost $4.75 million and is being funded by the Houston-Galveston Area Council and the Texas Department of Transportation.
