Challenger Toni Carter is leading the race for Position 1 with 17,448 votes, or 51.8% of the vote. Incumbent Charles Gooden Jr. has 16,234 votes, or 48.2% of the votes.

For Position 2, Carmine Petrillo III has 4,465 votes, or 13.67% of the vote. Edgar Pacheco Jr. has 6,670 votes, or 20.42% of the vote. Kris Schoeffler has 10,808 votes, or 33.09% of the vote. Jessica Garcia Shafer has 10,722 votes, or 32.82% of the vote.

Both elections were to be held in May, but were postponed due to the coronavirus.

Pearland ISD is also holding a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election, which would solidify the tax rate of $1.3585 per $100 valuation for fiscal year 2020-21. If approved, the rate would bring in an additional $10 million to the district. Of the $10 million, 65% would be funded by the state, and 35% would be funded locally. According to early voting results, 22,229 of the 40,652 votes cast were against the proposition.

Results are updated as of 11:13 a.m. and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk. Under Texas election law, the clerk accepts and counts mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 4, if they were sent from inside the U.S., or Nov. 9 if they were sent from outside the U.S.
