As the final month of 2021 has finally arrived, our region will probably not experience the winter wonderland that our neighbors to the north get to, but that will not stop those in the Pearland and Friendswood area from getting into the seasonal spirit. Here are five local winter activities worth checking out. This list is not comprehensive.

Dec. 3: Pearland’s Hometown Christmas

The city of Pearland’s monthlong Hometown Christmas event will begin on Dec. 3 with Hometown Christmas Tree Lighting at Independence Park, located at 3449 Pearland Parkway, Pearland, from 6 to 9 p.m and the Hometown Christmas Parade on Dec. 4 beginning at 6 p.m. along Broadway Street, or FM 518, between Old Alvin Road and Pearland Parkway. 281-412-8900. www.parks.pearlandtx.gov/special-events/hometown-christmas-festival/tree-lighting

Dec. 4: Christmas Lighted Parade & Santa in the Park-Stevenson

The Friendswood Chamber of Commerce and the Friendswood Parks Department will host two events. The parade will begin at Heritage Drive, turn on South Friendswood Drive and end on FM 518 at Stevenson Park for Santa in the Park activities. 6 p.m. Free. Stevenson Park, 1100 S. Dec. 4, 11, 18: Baybrook Mall holiday movies

Drc. 9: Santa Party at Vallensons’

Vallensons' Brewing Co. will host a Santa party. Santa will arrive around 5:30 p.m. and kids and dogs on a leash are welcomed for free camera or cell phone pictures. Dec. 4, 5, 9, 10, 11: ACC Theatre Presents 'A Tuna Christmas'
