The overview
The CTE department will have two directors following the approval. Current FISD CTE administrator Alexis Kopp will take on the role of executive director of CTE, which is currently held by Susan Kirkpatrick. Alexis Kopp will also be taking on the role of community partnerships, according to district agenda documents.
Current FISD college and career specialist Nishi St. John will be taking on the second leadership role for CTE as director of secondary CTE, according to district agenda documents.
Current Bales Intermediate Principal Ryan Kopp will be taking on the role of assistant superintendent of secondary teaching and learning, which is currently held by Kim Cole, district agenda documents show.
Diving in deeper
Alexis Kopp has previously served as a CTE teacher and assistant principal at FISD. She most recently served as the director of CTE at Texas City ISD, according to district documents.
St. John previously served as an engineering teacher at Friendswood High School. In her current role as college and career specialist, she has expanded workforce dual credit programs, community partnerships and secured grant funding to support student opportunities, according to district documents.
Ryan Kopp has experience in campus leadership as a principal, as well as curriculum development and instructional coaching, district documents note.
One last thing
While Alexis Kopp and St. John have one-year contracts for the 2025-26 school year, Ryan Kopp will have a two-year contract for the 2025-27 school years, district documents note.
