As preventative measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus become a priority, school districts across the country have started to close either temporarily or for the rest of the school year. Pearland, Friendswood and Alvin ISDs have closed for the week of March 16-20, during which they will each offer free curbside meals to support food insecure students.
PISD will offer Grab & Go lunch and next day breakfast for Pearland students starting March 17 and continuing the duration of the school closure. The meals will be available between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and will be distributed at H.C. Charleston Elementary, E.A. Lawhon Elementary and the PACE Center. Students must be present to receive the meals. Adult meals will not be provided.
FISD will offer breakfast and lunch the week of March 16 to all qualified free and reduced students. The meals will be available at Zue S. Bales Elementary every day between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
AISD will be providing meals to students every day during the week of March 16. The meals will be available from noon to 1 p.m. each day and can be picked up at Melba Passmore Elementary, Rodeo Palms Junior High and Manvel Junior High.
All three districts request that families go to the campus closest to their home and remain in their cars during pick up.
