From Oct. 15-25, Brazoria County case counts remained in the double digits. On Oct 23, the daily case count was 54 cases. During the 10-day period, this was the only day the reported daily cases surpassed 50.
However, the number of COVID-19 patients occupying general use beds has remained consistent since mid-September, according to data from the SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council. From Oct. 15-25, there were roughly 12-18 suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients occupying general use beds per day.
The number of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients occupying intensive care unit beds has started to increase. On Oct. 15, four ICU beds were occupied by suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases. On Oct. 25, 15 ICU beds were occupied by suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases. This is the highest amount of ICU beds occupied by suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases since Sept. 13. The county has 40 operational ICU beds, with a surge capacity of 49.
The city of Pearland has 227 of the county’s 667 active cases. The 20-29 age bracket has 109 active cases, more than any other age bracket in the county.
