Galveston County saw 57,546 voters turn out in person during the first week of early voting, which began Oct. 13. The county also received 9,055 mail-in ballots at the same time, according to county officials.

The county has 230,145 registered voters, meaning nearly 29% of voters have voted during the first week of early voting. In 2016, the county had 208,232 registered voters, according to the Texas Secretary of State.

During the 2016 election, 99,979 people voted early in Galveston County, not even double the amount of early voters the county has seen in one week this election. In 2016, 48% of registered voters voted early.

Early voting goes through Oct. 30. Election Day is Nov. 3.
