A new career and technical education, or CTE, building is among some of the additions included in Alvin High School’s renovation and expansion project.

Officials with Houston-based PBK Architects reviewed its schematic design for the high school’s renovation and expansion project at Alvin ISD’s board of trustees’ Oct. 21 meeting.

The project

The renovation and expansion of the school is a part of the district’s $380.1 million bond that addresses AISD’s enrollment growth. The bond passed in November 2024, Community Impact previously reported.

According to a presentation by PBK Architects, some of the following will be built for the renovation and expansion:
  • New CTE building, which will replace the Luke Kennedy Vocational Building and includes a wing that will connect to the cafeteria
  • Dining expansion, which will allow an indirect capacity of 108 students for larger lunch areas in conditioned spaces
  • Large group instructional spaces for day-to-day student activities
The new CTE building will be a facility that allows students to specialize in some of the following programs:
  • Advanced technology, manufacturing and engineering center
  • Floral
  • Robotics
  • Health care
