Alvin ISD's board of trustees will consider approval of the district's five-year student outcome goals for the 2026-27 school year at its Oct. 6 workshop.
What you need to know
Under House Bill 3, passed during the 86th Texas Legislature in 2019, school districts are required to establish a five-year plan focused on improving student outcomes in early childhood literacy and math, and college, career and military readiness, or CCMR, according to district documents.
AISD officials outlined three goals for board approval:
Increase the percentage of students meeting or exceeding grade level on the STAAR reading assessment from 63% in 2026 to 68% by 2030
Increase the percentage of students meeting or exceeding grade level on the STAAR math assessment from 58% in 2026 to 63% by 2030
Increase the percentage of high school graduates meeting CCMR requirements from 81% in 2025 to 98% by 2030
If the goals are approved, the district will support them by providing time for professional development on small-group instruction, writing and comprehension standards, as well as ensuring the correct learning models are applied during instruction, district documents show.
Looking ahead
The board of trustees will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 at the district’s administration building, located at 301 E. House St., Alvin.
