The Woodlands Township has hired two additional Harris County deputy constables to patrol the Village of Creekside Park. The two new constables, who started June 30, bring the total number of full-time Harris County deputies serving Creekside Park to three.
The new full-time shifts now give police coverage for the daytime, late afternoon and late nights, said Marian Leck, director of law enforcement for the township.
Leck said the township's 2012 budget allocated money to hire the two constables and that three more officers could be hired for Creekside Park to start July 1, 2013.
Creekside Park is the only village within The Woodlands that lies in Harris County, and is therefore served by Harris County police patrols. Leck said that in addition to the three constables working in Creekside, the community is also covered by regular patrols of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
With the amount of construction continuing throughout Creekside Park, Leck said the biggest problem in the village is the theft of construction equipment and tools. She hopes the increased presence will cut down on those crimes and all others.
