Justin Ray and Sheri Sheppard will fill two open seats on the Jersey Village City Council, according to unofficial results.
Winner of the Position 1 race, Ray received approximately 54 percent of the vote, or 364 votes. Jim Fields earned 26 percent for 178 votes. Michael P. Mauer earned 19 percent, or 133 votes. Incumbent Joyce Berube was ineligible to run for reelection this year due to term limit restrictions.
"It's been a very long campaign, and I've put a lot of shoe leather into it," Ray said. "I'm honored and humbled to have been entrusted to earn the votes of my neighbors. I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves to make sure Jersey Village is the best place it can be."
Sheri Sheppard won the Position 4 seat with 53 percent, or 344 votes. Incumbent Mark Maloy earned 47 percent of the votes, with 302 votes.
"I'm very excited that the community is willing to put trust in me," Sheppard said. "I'm going to do what I can to make this a great place to live."
Position 5 Incumbent Jill Klein ran unopposed in this year's election, and will serve another two years on council. She received 508 votes.
All results are unofficial until canvassed. The next council meeting is 7 p.m. Monday, May 21.
