A multi-sport venue with rental fields—365 Sports Complex—will be opening a new indoor facility in Porter, according to a Feb. 19 message from a business spokesperson.Apple manufacturing facility

Apple is set to bring a 250,000-square-foot server manufacturing facility to Houston, according to a Feb. 24 news release. The servers manufactured in Houston will support Apple Intelligence, an artificial intelligence system developed by Apple, according to the release.Highlands Middle School


Construction on a new campus—Highlands Middle School—will begin soon in Porter, a spokesperson with New Caney ISD confirmed via email Feb. 21. Construction on the $70 million project is expected to begin on or after April 25 and wrap up by April 2027, according to a Jan. 28 filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The campus will span 215,100 square feet.Waffle House

Waffle House—a national diner chain—is expected to open a new location in East Montgomery County, according to a Jan. 16 Facebook post from the East Montgomery County Improvement District. An opening date has not yet been announced.Now open

High Top Academy

High Top Academy celebrated the grand opening of its new school location in Porter on Dec. 9, according to officials with the East Montgomery County Improvement District. According to the school's website, High Top Academy is a Christ-centered organization under the direction of April Hayes and Hannah Jenkins who both have prior experience as public school classroom teachers.Dairy Queen


A new Dairy Queen location opened in New Caney in December, according to officials with the East Montgomery County Improvement District. Known for its signature Blizzards and other sweet treats, Dairy Queen also offers a menu of burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken strips and fries.Shouting Grounds Coffee Company

Shouting Grounds Coffee Company—a coffee shop devoted to sharing the owners’ faith with the local community—is now open in New Caney, owner Katie Carroll confirmed via a Feb. 17 Facebook message.
