Updated at 5:40 p.m. Sept. 19 Humble ISD and New Caney ISD as well as all school-related activities will remain closed on Friday, Sept. 20, due to Tropical Depression Imelda, according to the districts. HISD officials are checking on the condition of every campus, but the district anticipates reopening on Monday, Sept. 23, according to a Sept. 19 news release from the district. Both districts made announcements at roughly 5:30 a.m. via their respective district websites and social media. Southeast Texas began experiencing rainfall from the storm on Wednesday, and the weather forecasts from the National Weather Service indicate rains will continue Thursday before shifting northeast out of the Houston area on Friday.
