Le Bon is set to open its first location in Sugar Land this fall, cafe staff confirmed.
The details
The Lebanese dessert, pastry and coffee shop soft-opened in the summer, and it will officially open in Riverstone this fall, said Mohammed Elissa, who is helping his wife, Walaa Kassem, open the cafe.
On the menu
Le Bon offers a signature coffee bun, which is a buttery, flaky bun covered in a dried-coffee shell, Elissa said. Multiple flavor options are available.
The cafe was meant to be only a pastry shop, but the owners created their signature baklava latte and matcha when experimenting with drinks, Elissa said. They now offer various flavored drinks.
Other items include a cheese and sesame pastry, croissants and cakes, per its website.
What’s in a name?
Kassem started Le Bon as an at-home bakery that offered catering about a decade ago. It was previously called The Sweet Spot, but she announced the name change in an Instagram post, where she mentioned enjoying pastries in Lebanon.
Le Bon draws on recipes from the couple’s Lebanese families, Elissa said, but the coffee bun is inspired by the couple's time in Qatar. He said they saw a lack of these types of pastries in Sugar Land, where the couple lives.
“People thought we were crazy for doing this in Sugar Land, but I think a lot of people enjoy it,” Elissa said. “I don't think there's anything like it here.”
