Humble City Council has chosen an interim chief for the Humble Police Department following former Chief Daniel Zientek’s resignation on Feb. 10.
The gist
Kris Battenfield, a captain for HPD, was named the interim police chief by Humble City Council on Feb. 12.
On Dec. 11, Zientek was put on administrative leave pending a third-party investigation into HPD’s management and operations, as previously reported by Community Impact.
On Feb. 12, City Manager Jason Stuebe said the city would not be sharing the results of the investigation at this time due to attorney-client privilege.

Zientek was first chosen as Humble’s police chief in May, as previously reported by Community Impact. He previously served as assistant chief and was promoted after former Chief Ken Theis retired.
