New Caney ISD trustees approve hiring of new human resources director

The New Caney ISD board of trustees approved the hiring of Christie Gates as the district’s new executive director of human resources at its March 21 meeting.

Gates, who boasts more than 20 years of public education experience, most recently served as deputy superintendent of administrative services at Sheldon ISD.

NCISD Superintendent Matt Calvert lauded the hiring of Gates in an emailed statement March 22.

“Ms. Gates brings a wide range of experience to our district,z including extensive administrative and campus leadership experience,” Calvert said. “She understands the dynamics of recruiting, hiring and keeping great teachers and support staff. She will be an asset to our district as we continue to work toward the board’s goal of preparing our students for higher education and the workplace.”

Throughout her career, Gates has served various school districts as an elementary school principal, a chief administrative officer, an executive director of personnel services, a director of personnel services and a coordinator of special education instructional services. She began her career in education as an elementary math and science teacher.
