The deadlines to file for the positions and to file as a write-in candidate were Feb. 16 and 20, respectively. Interim City Secretary Sherry Mashburn said the council will decide whether to cancel the elections at the March 15 meeting. Mashburn said council members serve two-year terms with no term limits.
Mayor Merle Aaron Sr. and Council Member Allen Calfee ran unopposed last May, while incumbent Charles Curry defeated Ross Adkins to retain his seat on the council, according to Harris County data.
