Couple Bailee Weaver and James Burns acquired Nitro Nutrition in September to help residents of the Porter community accomplish their health and nutrition goals. The business is one of several beverage-based businesses to open in the Lake Houston area in 2023.

“We have anything from protein shakes and protein waffles to protein balls and energy teas,” Weaver said.

The setup

Weaver, who previously worked for Nitro Nutrition while she was in college, said she fell in love with the concept’s offerings. She frequently spent money on Nitro Nutrition products and eventually persuaded her fiance, Burns, to try them.

Both Weaver and Burns enjoyed Nitro Nutritions products and realized the need for them. When the shop became available for sale, the couple decided to buy it.

Although initially hesitant to run a business while still in nursing school, Weaver decided to purchase the shop with help from Burns and store Manager Cara Gautreaux.

The details

Nitro Nutrition offers Herbalife products, such as protein shakes, protein waffles and energy teas. Weaver said the protein shakes offered are soy based, contain 200-250 calories and are full meal replacement shakes. The business’s protein waffles are made from its protein shakes and contain active probiotics.

Nitro Nutrition also offers several categories of teas, including loaded teas, speciality teas, beauty line teas and kitchen sink teas. Designed for mental focus, the loaded teas contain 200 milligrams of caffeine, are low in calories and contain vitamins A-E.

Meanwhile, Weaver said specialty teas contain less caffeine and protein, making the tea a snack-based product. Beauty line teas contain biotin and collagen, and the kitchen sink teas are considered the “all-in-one teas” as they contain protein, biotin, collagen and vitamins A-E.

Nitro Nutrition also offers a seasonal menu with new products offered in each category throughout the year.
