What we reported


Tropical Storm Harvey caused flooding throughout Katy ISD, causing damage to several campuses, including Betty Sue Creech Elementary School in Cinco Ranch and the Educational Support Complex at 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy, KISD officials said. The storm also caused a migration of families to different schools and almost tripled the number of homeless students in the district.

Repairs throughout the district have continued, and students at Creech are attending classes at the UH-Cinco Ranch campus. Administrative offices are operating out of the Educational Support Complex’s second floor.

What’s next


KISD trustees approved a $5.5 million contract to Satterfield & Pontikes Construction in December to repair Creech Elementary, which will open for the 2018-19 school year.
