Residents applying for Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster assistance now have in-person options in Fort Bend County.

The overview

Fort Bend County Homeland Security and Emergency Management announced the opening of four FEMA disaster recovery centers in the county in a July 29 Facebook post. The centers come after President Joe Biden authorized the federal disaster declaration for Texas on July 9.

The centers are available to help with storm claims from Hurricane Beryl as well as April 26-June 5 storms and flooding, according to a July 29 FEMA news release. Residents can visit disaster recovery centers to:
  • Learn about and apply for disaster assistance programs
  • Check statuses of FEMA applications

Additionally, business owners are able to meet with U.S. Small Business Administration agents, according to the release.
