Houston-based eatery Gyro Republic opened in Katy late last year.

The details

The fast-casual eatery offers customizable New York City-style gyros featuring halal meat, rice bowls, salads, pita sandwiches and loaded fries, according to the business’ website. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available.

Katy’s eatery is owned by franchisee Asif Ahmed, who is a first-time business owner, founder Rehan Ranpuri said in an email. During Katy's grand opening Feb. 1, staff served more than 800 guests.

Zooming out

Ranpuri founded the Houston-based eatery in 2019, with the first franchised location opening in Missouri City last fall.

At least two more franchised locations are planned: 16702 Stuebner Airline Road, Spring, opening in March and 10501 Pearland Parkway, Pearland, which is under construction, Ranpuri said. But Gyro Republic isn’t stopping there.

“We are actively looking for passionate community members who are looking for a business opportunity,” Ranpuri said.
