Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe, a collaboration between gaming brand SEGA and marketing team Secret Sauce Society, stops in Katy for a three-month pop-up on Mason Road beginning May 4. This is the first pop-up from the brand outside of California, according to an April 23 news release from public relations agency Scurfield Group.
The nostalgic eatery is inspired by the Sonic gaming universe—with franchise-based menu items such as Sonic's classic chili dog, spicy fried chicken Knuckles sandwich and Golden Rings onion rings.

Each Sonic Speed Cafe order will come in custom-designed packaging featuring Sonic characters, and visitors will be able to purchase exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe merchandise including T-shirts, hoodies and hats, per the release.

Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe debuted at the San Diego Comic-Con last July.
Secret Sauce Society—which is composed of restaurateurs Andy Nguyen of Trill Burgers, Kevin Seo and Phillip Huynh—opened a second pop-up location in November in Chino Hills, California.

Craft Burger owner Shannen Tune, who is a Houston celebrity chef and Food Network's "Chopped" champion, helped curate the menu for the Katy pop-up.
New menu items unique to the Texas location include Tune’s Chaotix hot dog with chopped brisket, crispy onions and barbecue sauce; the Ultimate Fearless hot dog with cheese, pepperoni and marinara sauce; and Zomom’s Hunger Buster fries topped with chopped brisket, cheddar cheese and green onions.
