The name pays homage to the George family legacy and Fort Bend County’s The George Ranch, a 20,000-acre working ranch founded in 1824, according to an April 4 news release.
“[The George family’s] story offers a powerful blueprint for how we envision the community evolving—into a place where families can shape their own lasting legacies for generations to come,” Derek Goff, vice president and general manager, said in the release.
The specifics
Johnson Development acquired 1,500 acres of land in March 2024 from the The George Foundation, which previously owned all of the land in Fort Bend County that constituted the George Ranch, Community Impact previously reported.
The first phase of the community, located off FM 2977 at Koeblen Road, will encompass 319 home sites and a 20-acre amenity center which are expected to open in 2026, according to the release.
The George is adjacent to Lamar CISD’s Steenbergen Middle School, Wright Junior High and Randle High School, according to the release.
The master plan also includes land for on-site schools, commercial centers and approximately 4,000 homes, according to the release.
