The Fresh Monkee, a Connecticut-based protein shake and smoothie business, is expanding to Texas with a new location in the Jordan Ranch community.

The details

The healthy shake concept offers smoothies and shakes that are naturally flavored with simple ingredients and made-to-order, per the business' website. Menu options include lower sugar and low-glycemic options, as well as shakes and smoothies with added protein and supplements.

On the menu

Popular shake and smoothie combinations include the Cinnamon Toast, made with milk, vanilla protein, Nutella, graham cracker, banana and cinnamon; and the Antioxidant Berry, made with a splash of pomegranate juice, orange juice, milk, vanilla protein, spinach and mixed berries, according to the online menu.

The business also sells Monkee Ballz—a protein snack made with natural peanut butter, oat flour, chocolate whey protein, maple syrup and vanilla extract, then rolled in semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil, per the website.

Meet the owners

Kailee Wong, a former NFL linebacker for the Houston Texans, and his wife, Marissa Wong, are the franchise owners for this new location. The couple moved from Bellaire to Fulshear in 2023 to raise their family, and fell in love with the community, Kailee said in an interview.

"It's become the perfect place for us to lay down new roots along with our four kids, not just as a family but as local business owners," he said.

Kailee said their family has always valued health, performance and recovery. This is why they got involved with The Fresh Monkee.

"After stepping away from football, my wife and I founded The Athletic Room in Bellaire, which focused on helping people move, feel and live better," Kailee said. "With The Fresh Monkee, Marissa and I found the next natural step in continuing to support healthier living in our community—this time through better nutrition on the go."
