The husband-and-wife duo of Matt and Sara Broussard opened the Houston Toy Museum on Oct. 6, bringing two floors of exhibits to visitors with toys dating back to the late 1800s.

The museum can be found in the Heights area at 321 W. 19th St., Ste. C, Houston, and features toys from Matt's personal collection, Sara said. The museum aspect includes exhibits that examine how world events influenced toy production and "explore racial representation in toys as well as the influence of gender stereotypes on the way that certain toys were marketing to boys and girls," according to a description on the museum's website.

"We hope to offer guests of all ages a nostalgic experience where they come in saying, 'I remember that!' and leave having learned something new," Sara wrote to Community Impact in an email.

Toys at the museum are displayed in cases, but the museum also offers a small interactive area for children, giving them a chance to play with toys, Sara said.

Ticket prices range from $14-$18, according to the museum's website. 281-305-8828. www.houstontoymuseum.com
