The Houston Health Department’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution and testing sites will resume service Feb. 20 after the region’s deep freeze interrupted it for the week.

The department plans to resume 4,784 vaccine appointments Feb. 20. Those who received their first dose Jan. 18-23 will be contacted Feb. 20 and 21 to schedule their second appointments, according to the health department. Anyone who received a first dose between Jan. 18 and 23 who does not hear from the health department by the afternoon of Feb. 21 should call the health department at 832-393-4220.

Additional second doses will be scheduled for the week beginning Feb. 22. The city will also schedule first doses by contacting those on the Houston Health Department’s vaccine waitlist.

The waitlist is currently limited to those over age 65 and those over age 16 with chronic health conditions or disabilities. Those who qualify may sign up for the waitlist by calling the Area Agency on Aging at 832-393-4301 and leaving a voicemail with their name and phone number. Only one voicemail is necessary.
