The Cy-Fair Fire Department is on track to break ground on a new fire station near Settlers Village in April, project officials told the Harris County Emergency Services Department No. 9 board of commissioners March 26.
Station 15 marks the first of eight new fire stations the department plans to open over the next several years as part of its strategic plan to expand emergency services on pace with rapid population growth and development in the Cypress community.

Positioned at the crossroads of Settlers Village and FM 529, Station 15 will allow CFFD to fill a service gap in ZIP code 77449 near the Grand Parkway. The department selected properties for its new fire stations based on a 2023 audit that found at least five stations would be needed in western and northern portions of the Greater Cy-Fair region, according to prior Community Impact reporting.
ESD 9 commissioners unanimously approved a guaranteed maximum price of $12,858,338 for Station 15 construction during their March 26 regular board meeting.
The department initially projected a $12 million construction cost when the project went out for bid, officials said. However, Ricardo Martinez, the architect overseeing Station 15’s construction, said they went through three pricing iterations to incorporate all of CFFD’s needs and keep the total construction cost under $13 million.
ESD 9 budgeted just under $13 million through fiscal year 2026-27 for the Station 15 project, according to the district’s five-year capital improvement plan that the board approved in September.
With board approval of the guaranteed maximum price, Martinez said his team and CFFD are eyeing a mid-April groundbreaking for Station 15. Details are subject to change.

CFFD is also gearing up to build a new fire station in Bridgeland—Station 17—to expand its presence near the Hwy. 290 and Grand Parkway corridor. Martinez said his firm is working closely with Howard Hughes, the developer behind the master-planned community, to finalize a design for the station.
The fire department already has a station in Bridgeland’s Parkland Village along Westgreen Road, but Station 17 will allow for faster response times in the 11,500-acre master-planned area. Bridgeland isn’t expected to hit full build-out for several years, with mixed-use retail and multifamily housing coming soon to the area in the recently announced Toro District.
Martinez told commissioners he is on track to present them with a guaranteed maximum price in August, with plans to break ground on Station 17 by late September or early October.
Looking ahead
On top of Stations 15 and 17, ESD 9 has plans to open six other fire stations within the next 10 years, primarily in the northwest region of Cy-Fair. Additionally, the district is in the process of selecting an architecture firm to oversee a remodel of CFFD’s dispatch center, located at 9101 Wheat Cross Drive, Houston.
Community members can hear more updates about the district’s fire station expansion at the ESD 9 monthly board meetings, which are open to the public. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 16 in the administration building at 10710 Telge Road, Houston.
