The couple dreamed of opening their own French restaurant and found Texas to be the ideal place. Mona’s French Cafe opened in April 2023.
“My husband is a real French Texan cowboy, and he loves Texas,” Mona Blanquart said.
What’s special about it?
Mona’s French Cafe offers a homey environment for community gatherings and date nights with a romantic French-themed atmosphere, Mona Blanquart said.
The cafe has three semi-private rooms for date nights. Though they do not require reservations, Mona Blanquart said she recommends couples make a reservation prior to visiting.
Mona’s French Cafe also offers seating in its main dining area and tastings at its kitchen island where guests can sit and enjoy German beer and French wine.
Mona Blanquart said she and her husband plan to expand the cafe with a beer garden located behind the restaurant along with a community duck pond in the next couple of years.
The cafe offers French and German cuisine to merge the couple’s European cultures.
Popular menu items include homemade quiches, croissants, traditional German sauerkraut, French onion soup and homemade french fries.
With ingredients imported from France, Mona Blanquart said Mona’s French Cafe also offers special dishes not listed on the menu on weekends.
For dessert
Mona’s French Cafe specializes in its dessert menu, including sweet croissants such as chocolate, almond and butter as well as crepes and French and German pastries.
Crepe flavors offered include apple strudel made with dried raisins, cinnamon, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream as well as nutella, lemon and a classic sugar crepe, among others.
Other desserts include homemade French cake, cake with ice cream and crème brulée.
