Why did you choose to run for Fort Bend ISD board of trustees?
I have a child in first grade and another starting kindergarten next year, so I am not watching these decisions from a distance. I'm living inside the results. I spend my career turning numbers into clear decisions, and I want a board thinking twelve years ahead, not one budget cycle.
What is your top priority if elected to represent the citizens of Fort Bend ISD?
Honest, forward-looking budgeting. In recent budgets the district leaned on one-time money and temporary fixes that just move the problem to next year. My standard is simple. Plan for what we can see coming, protect the classroom and never patch a recurring gap with a one-time fix.
What do you think is the most pressing issue for Fort Bend ISD, and what will you do to address it?
Declining enrollment is shrinking the budget, and FBISD has met it with one-time money and last-minute decisions. I’ll insist on conservative projections and clear criteria shared with families before voting. Before cutting the classroom, I’ll go through the rest of the budget and separate what’s essential from what's simply habit.
How do you plan to involve residents in the decision-making process?
I will build listening in before decisions, not after. Regular chances for parents and staff to be heard, an easy way to submit input that is actually reviewed and the real options put in front of families before a vote. Too often families learn only after it is final.
How should the district prepare to address the stagnating student population?
A district does not stabilize enrollment by managing decline. It stabilizes by giving families reasons to stay. Study why they leave, then act on it. Strong neighborhood schools, consistent quality across every campus and planning done early and in the open. The goal is earning families back, not shrinking quietly.
With the expansion of alternatives to public schools, what offerings should Fort Bend prioritize for its students?
Fort Bend has to earn each family's choice. Get the fundamentals right first. Strong early reading and core academics. Safe, well-run campuses. Real support for students with different needs. And listen to what our own families actually want. Be genuinely good at what matters, and you do not fear alternatives.

Academic achievement. I would support data-driven strategies, strong instruction and accountability while addressing students' needs.

I would listen consistently through community meetings, surveys, campus visits and transparent communication.

Plan strategically around enrollment, facilities, boundaries and programs while protecting educational opportunities.

Strengthen academics, career and technical education, fine arts, athletics and innovative programs that prepare students for diverse futures.

Why did you choose to run for Fort Bend ISD board of trustees?
I am a longtime FBISD resident and parent, running to restore excellence to FBISD. Academic performance, financial pressures, declining enrollment, facility utilization and accountability require attention. We need leadership that listens to parents, supports teachers, sets measurable goals, prioritizes student success and considers school closures only as a last resort.
What is your top priority if elected to represent the citizens of Fort Bend ISD?
My top priority is excellence in every classroom. That means improving academics, supporting and retaining excellent teachers and staff, addressing declining enrollment and facility utilization, strengthening financial stability, establishing measurable long-term goals and accountability, and most importantly, listening to parents, residents and teachers before making important decisions.
What do you think is the most pressing issue for Fort Bend ISD, and what will you do to address it?
FBISD faces several interconnected challenges. Addressing them requires a multi-year plan, measurable targets, responsible financial planning, reduced wasteful spending and decisive action. We must improve academics, support teachers, strengthen financial stability and use facilities efficiently while listening to parents and teachers and openly measuring and communicating our progress.
How do you plan to involve residents in the decision-making process?
Parents and residents should be informed and involved before major decisions are made. Board meetings should not be the only opportunity for public input. I support town halls, listening sessions, surveys and stronger communication. The board should explain issues and options, seek feedback, listen carefully and make decisions openly.
How should the district prepare to address the stagnating student population?
Stagnating enrollment affects funding, staffing and facility utilization. FBISD needs a long-term enrollment and facility plan based on realistic projections. We should maximize existing facilities, expand specialized, CTE, college-level and dual-credit programs, and consider limited open enrollment. Every reasonable alternative should be evaluated before closing schools or adding capacity.
With the expansion of alternatives to public schools, what offerings should Fort Bend prioritize for its students?
Performance is key. FBISD should provide strong academics, college-level courses, CTE, STEM and career opportunities. We must treat teachers with respect, provide competitive compensation and retain great educators. Parents and schools should work together on academics, behavior, discipline and responsibility—making FBISD the first choice for families.

Equal access to opportunities: Ensuring all campuses have equal resources, technology, CTE pathways and teachers. Closing the achievement gap: Directing resources toward targeted interventions and tutoring. Smart resource allocation: Auditing programs to eliminate waste and reinvest.
What do you think is the most pressing issue for Fort Bend ISD, and what will you do to address it?
The biggest issue is managing tight funds while keeping community trust. To address this, I will: conduct rigorous audits to eliminate waste and redirect dollars into classrooms. Partner openly with families to guide facility decisions collaboratively. Safeguard funding for targeted academic interventions to ensure student success.
How do you plan to involve residents in the decision-making process?
I will involve residents through three key approaches: Community engagement: Actively connecting with families and teachers to understand daily school challenges. Systems perspective: Bringing collaborative planning and teamwork-driven solutions. Transparent partnerships: Sharing open data to guide facility and boundary decisions collaboratively.

To address stagnating enrollment, the district should: Program quality & retention: Elevate academic rigor, advanced coursework and CTE pathways. Vibrant ecosystems: Cultivate fine arts, athletics and leadership programs to keep families engaged. Minimizing disruption: Prioritize creative capacity solutions and program expansions over forced boundary changes.

Prioritize competitive, high-value pathways that alternative options cannot easily replicate. Tailored special education & learning support: Expand intervention and individualized support. Prioritized campus safety & climate: Implement proactive safety protocols and security. Career-driven industry certifications: Deliver market-ready technical skills and credentials. Rigorous dual-credit partnerships: Provide tuition-free college credits.

Why did you choose to run for Fort Bend ISD board of trustees?
I was upset with certain board decisions, such as school closures, over massive community backlash. The board must consider not just the survey data, but the voices of those most impacted by board decisions. I feel my classroom and legal experience are both valuable on the board.
What is your top priority if elected to represent the citizens of Fort Bend ISD?
Pushing back against extremist and ideological pressures from the state government. Curriculum should be effective, factual and allow all of our students to feel equally valued. Students can only learn if they are safe both physically and emotionally at school.
What do you think is the most pressing issue for Fort Bend ISD, and what will you do to address it?
We are the most fiscally stressed district in the nation, according to a recent report. First we must audit our technology spending. By cutting back on tablets for the youngest students and subscriptions that are not educationally impactful we can save large amounts. This also encourages better classroom practices.
How do you plan to involve residents in the decision-making process?
I hope to be as accessible and responsive as possible by email and otherwise. I promise to consider most strongly the voices of those who are negatively impacted by decisions. Allowing the impact of your voice to be felt is an extremely strong priority for me.
How should the district prepare to address the stagnating student population?
By providing the best options for our students' education we can retain students who would otherwise be lost to charters. Smaller class sizes and retaining quality teachers are the highest impact strategies. A more responsive board also prevents losing students to parents unhappy with board decisions.
With the expansion of alternatives to public schools, what offerings should Fort Bend prioritize for its students?
High quality schools and specialized pathways through high school. Students rarely leave schools that offer the opportunities they value. Prioritizing STEM, vocational, arts, early college, leadership and more academies can better serve and retain students of all interests. It can also help resolve attendance capacity issues by voluntarily relocating students.
