During its Sept. 26 meeting, Conroe City Council approved a second and final round of funding for the removal of debris from Hurricane Beryl, resulting in a total of $911,135.

Public Works Director Norman McGuire said during the Sept. 25 workshop meeting that contractors have been demobilized and the debris pickups have concluded.

The breakdown

Conroe City Council first approved contracts with DRC and Volkert Inc. to manage and remove debris in July, according to prior reporting.

The final payment, awarded to Volkert, Inc., is $54,609, resulting in a total of $209,949 to the company.

“The purchase order that came to you originally was for 30 to 45 days of service, that was the anticipated restoration time,” McGuire said. “Obviously we've drifted, so this added a month to it. [The $54,609] would wrap it up.”

According to the agenda, the additional funds will be submitted for FEMA reimbursement.
