The Woodforest community launched The Giving Tree Initiative on Nov. 1 to support several Montgomery County charities, according to a news release.

The program will set up boxes for physical donations at The Palm Information Center, 251 Central Pine St., Montgomery. For every box filled, Woodforest will donate $100 to the charity receiving them.

The seven charities include:

Journey Home

The maternity home Journey Home supports expectant mothers by providing housing, classes and spiritual support. 832-289-8257 www.journeyhometx.org



Meals on Wheels Montgomery County

Meals on Wheels helps more than 580 homebound seniors in Montgomery County remain in their homes by providing nearly 300,000 meals and nearly 15,000 rides annually. 936-756-5849 www.mowmc.org

Montgomery County Women’s Shelter

This local organization works to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. It receives 2,000 hotline calls each month and fills 75 beds nearly every night. 936-441-4044 www.mcwctx.org


Operation Pets Alive

A nonprofit, all-volunteer organization striving to elevate Montgomery County to a no-kill community. www.operationpetsalive.org

Patriots of Texas

Offers “boots on the ground” assistance to local veterans and first responders in need. www.patriotsoftexas.org


Toys for Tots

The organization delivered 30,716 toys to 8,213 less fortunate children in the Conroe region last year. www.toysfortots.org

Wrapped in Warmth

A drive by the Montgomery County Community Assistance Center to collect gently used coats and gloves for the Community Assistance Center of Montgomery County, which serves local residents experiencing financial hardship. 936-539-1096 www.cac-mctx.org
