In the 2025-26 school year, Humble ISD was among the top half of public school districts in the Greater Houston area for some Texas Education Agency-tracked variables, including average teacher pay, according to data released March-June.
However, the school district also extended its four-year trend of enrollment decline after having previously spent several years as a fast-growth district, TEA data shows.

Community Impact analyzed data from the TEA to learn trends among 30 Greater Houston-area public school districts. Data covered enrollment, student transfers, special education, bilingual students and more.
In 2025-26, HISD had:
- 47,856 students
- 4,372 teachers
- 3,513 staff
- 49 campuses
HISD's student enrollment dropped by about 0.5% from the 2021-22 school year to the 2025-26 school year, TEA data shows.
HISD saw a 2% student enrollment loss via student transfers in the 2025-26 school year. This rate was the same for neighboring New Caney ISD.
Out of 30 analyzed public school districts across the Greater Houston area, HISD had the 14th-highest average teacher pay for 2025-26.
According to TEA data:
- 757 HISD students were classified as homeless in 2025-26
- 8.6% more HISD students experienced homelessness in 2025-26 compared to 2021-22
- HISD had the 13th-highest increase in homeless students in the region from 2021-26
- 79 HISD students were in foster care in 2025-26
- 24% fewer HISD students were in foster care in 2025-26 compared to 2021-22
- HISD saw the seventh-largest decline in foster care students in the region from 2021-26
In the 2025-26 school year, 18.2% of HISD's students were enrolled in special education.
About 12% of HISD's student population was enrolled in emergent bilingual programs in 2025-26.
The largest share of HISD students with a home language of Spanish were enrolled in kindergarten-fifth grade, according to TEA data.
