The Conroe ISD board of trustees approved five new principals and a handful of construction managers for several district renovation projects during a March 19 meeting.

Two-minute impact

CISD Superintendent Curtis Null said combining their time in the district, the five new principals have served CISD for 109 years.

• Milam Elementary School: Rian Stepp
• Stewart Elementary School: Kristen Belcher
• Travis Intermediate School: Pamela Britton
• McCullough Junior High School: Joshua Hughes
• The Woodlands High School Ninth-Grade Campus: Dennis Muehsler

New principals will start in August at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year.

Trustees approved construction companies for five renovation projects, including one voters approved as part of the 2023 bond.

The Oak Ridge High School Ninth-Grade Campus will receive a major renovation, which includes addressing critical infrastructure, such as chillers, boilers, freezers, air handlers, generators and electrical service equipment, as well as the replacement of interior floors and walls.

The district selected Satterfield and Pontikis Construction as the construction company in charge of the ninth-grade campus renovation project. Construction companies selected to manage other renovation projects include:

• Snyder and Tough elementary schools, and Collins Intermediate School: Anslow-Bryant Construction
• Armstrong, Austin, Birnham Woods and Broadway elementary schools: Teal Construction
• Deretchin, Kaufman and Oak Ridge elementary schools: G.T.T. Construction
• Milam, Houston and Runyan elementary schools: G.T.T. Construction

Trustees approved construction to begin on two new schools from the 2023 bond, The Woodlands High School feeder elementary project and the Hwy. 242 elementary project, at the Feb. 20 board meeting.

CISD trustees approved the campus mascot for Janet K. Barlett Elementary as the Bartlett Bobcats.
