Model airplanes, photos of veterans, American flags and war memorabilia fill the walls of Honor Café, a diner on North Thompson Street. Owner Chris Sadler opened the diner in June for two reasons: to honor and serve veterans and their families, and to make the best food. Read more

Prime 101 Steakhouse: Award-winning Italian chef brings big-city vibes to Montgomery

Prime 101 Steakhouse owner Tony Nicoletta has a resume with more than 40 years as a chef under his belt—but now he is devoted to the steakhouse he opened in 2019. The restaurant serves dry-aged black angus prime steaks, seafood, desserts and specialty cocktails. Read more

Vernele’s New Orleans Bakery & Cafe: Conroe cafe offers homemade recipes, Louisiana flair and family charm




Linda Ezernack wanted to bring a home-style feeling to her Main Street cafe in Conroe, so she took inspiration from her home and family in Louisiana to style the business. Vernele’s offers a cafe menu including po’boys, grilled cheese and gumbo as well as pies, cookies and cheesecake. Read more

Wings Over Montgomery: Local restaurant dedicated to famed Texas lawyer Richard Haynes

The memory of criminal defense lawyer Richard Haynes lives on at Wings Over Montgomery in the city’s historic district. Richard’s grandson Damon opened the restaurant as a way to remember his grandfather and give back to the community. Read more

Casual Conroe diner Marsalas Italian Grill offers catering, live saxophone music

Conroe’s rapid growth, even during a pandemic, was enough to attract Isaac Rodriguez and Teresa Guzman to create their Italian concept Marsalas and launch it in October 2020. In addition to Italian food, Marsalas features live music and catering services. Read more

Husband and wife offer dishes with Mexican-sourced ingredients at Taco Patron in Conroe




Alma and Gilbert Perez opened Taco Patron in February 2020 after truck driving was not enough to support them in Willis. Finding a storefront on Conroe’s Frazier Street, they began serving family recipes, complete with ingredients straight from Mexico. Read more
