Ongoing transportation projects in the Heights, River Oaks and Montrose neighborhoods have been geared toward improving roadways, sidewalks and crosswalks to aid drivers and pedestrians as they get to and from important checkpoints.
Check out three ongoing projects, as of October. This list is not comprehensive.
1. Shepherd-Durham Drive Reconstruction Projects
Project: The reconstruction project improves the roughly 5-mile stretch of road by adding bike lanes, 6-foot sidewalks, left-turn lanes and general upgrades to streetlights, stormwater drainage systems, and landscaping.
Update: Curb, gutter and sidewalk work continues on the west side of Durham. This phase is expected to be completed this fall, which will involve a traffic shift.
