What we know
Countryman said the company is working on its engineering planning, and will begin moving dirt and leveling the land this August. The property will hold a detention pond with plans to add a special Texan feel, Countryman said.
“I'm so impressed with [H-E-B]. They're actually sending people into town, to shop at our shops, talk to the locals, to get a feel of how our town operates, and then they're going to take that feedback, and apply it to their store,” Countryman said. “That’s from the aesthetics, from the feel and how they expect their employees to respond to us.”
How we got here
The city of Montgomery approved a feasibility study for the planned H-E-B in May 2024, according to prior reporting.
H-E-B will sit on a 32.42-acre tract of land at the southeast corner of Hwy. 105 and FM 2854, with 16.75 acres used for the grocery chain, as previously reported. The development is estimated to bring in $45,600 annually in tax revenue and cost $140,000 in public infrastructure.
Plans for the location include a gas station and car wash, as previously reported.
