Montgomery Mayor Sara Countryman declared the ongoing coronavirus outbreak a local disaster March 19, according to a press release.

The declaration is expected to help the city regain funds spent to mitigate the effects of the disaster. The state of disaster will last until March 26. City staff will continue working, and public services such as the utility and court departments, will remain operating in their normal hours.
