"Everyone is just so happy," Novak said. "Everyone leaves with a smile."
Neville said the pair met in college while playing golf and immediately became best friends. She said they both share a love for sweets—Neville enjoys sour candy and Novak enjoys chocolates.
Novak said the pair was looking for a one-stop sweet shop in the community. After seeing there were none, Novak said the pair decided to open the store together in Pine Market, located in Woodforest.
Neville, who owns another service-based business, said the candy store is nothing but fun because it's all about kids and families enjoying a treat together. Novak said she enjoys running the business because it's stress-free and geared toward the customers.
The pair said they spend time browsing trending candy on social media and try to see what candies their customers like.
"It's cool living in the community. ... We have regular customers, and we know what they like," Neville said. "We get updates on their families, or they lost a tooth so they came up for a treat—so that's the best part, the people."
Novak said she has been impressed by how well received their business has been in the short time it’s been open. She said she expected the opening of the business to be harder, but the community has welcomed them and wants their business to succeed. Neville said they are hopeful as the Woodforest community continues to grow, they will be able to open another location in other master-planned communities.
"We just want to make sure everyone has a sweet experience when they come in here," Neville said. "If anyone has recommendations, we want to make sure we have something sweet for everyone."
