League City police officers and firefighters will begin visiting 52 neighborhoods, subdivisions and homeowners associations at 6 p.m. tonight as part of National Night Out, a countrywide event promoting police-community partnerships.
Police Chief Gary Ratliff will visit several of the neighborhoods, first stopping at the Leisure Lakes subdivision, one of the first groups to register for National Night Out and winner of a drawing for a gift basket, according to a city press release.
“National Night Out is a great way for a neighborhood or subdivision to build a relationship with law enforcement and create a safer community,” Ratliff said in the release. “Neighbors that get to know each other are more likely to watch out for each other and report suspicious activities.”
The event will happen rain or shine. League City police will give a limited number of umbrellas to residents in the event of rain, according to the release.
