Galveston County voters get somewhat of a break this election cycle. On Nov. 5, there will be no local elections for the Clear Creek ISD board of trustees, League City City Council, Nassau Bay City Council or Clear Lake Shores City Council.

However, those living in Houston city limits in the Clear Lake area will have more than enough on their ballots.

Only two candidates are running for Houston City Council District E, which includes the Clear Lake area. However, a dozen people are running for mayor, a position that carries a lot of weight in city operations.

Houston City Council has five at-large positions that represent voters citywide. There are over 30 candidates running for these positions, making them pretty contentious races.
