League City Pets Alive is offering $20 adoptions of adult dogs throughout October, which is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, according to a League City press release.

LCPA is participating in the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' national #FindYourFido campaign, which uses social media to promote shelter dog adoption. Officials hope the lower adoption fees encourage residents to "find their Fido," according to the release.

The organization will post "Find This Fido" signs around the city that spotlight dogs available for adoption. Local business owners can participate by having a photograph taken in front of their business with a shelter dog up for adoption. For more information, email Volunteer Outreach Coordinator Jasmine O'Keefe at [email protected].

Those who want to participate in the #FindYourFido initiative can become a digital ambassador by sharing profiles of adoptable dogs from the LCPA website or Facebook page on their social media channels, according to the release.

Residents can also participate in LCPA's Dog Day Getaway program by checking out shelter dogs for a day trip to dog-friendly places such as restaurants or the park to give them a break from the shelter. LCPA has a goal to make 20 day trips happen this month, the release reads.
