As roadwork continues along Hwy. 6 through Bryan and College Station, drivers can expect several full road closures for the week of March 23.
The Texas Department of Transportation began its “Big 6” construction project in December and is expected to continue through 2030.
What you need to know
TxDOT will be working primarily along Rock Prairie Road during the week of March 23. Here are the closures drivers should expect through March 26.
A full closure is planned on Hwy. 6 between Rock Prairie Road and Southwest Parkway. This closure is expected to last from 8:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m., March 23-26. It will be open during the daytime.
Northbound traffic will be directed to exit at the Rock Prairie Road off-ramp. Drivers can re-enter south of Harvey Road. Northbound entry ramps south of Barron Road and Harvey Mitchell and Southwest parkways will also be closed.
Before you go
Over the next six months, crews will be performing a majority of their work on the main lanes of Hwy. 6. TxDOT has an overview video available to see what exactly will be happening over the next few years of construction.
