Bryan-College Station will start seeing a series of daytime closures related to the ‘Big 6’ highway construction during the week of Aug. 3-7, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
'Big 6' is a long-term TxDOT project along Hwy. 6 through Bryan and College Station, aimed at helping the cities deal with growing traffic.
What you need to know
- Aug. 3-4: Single-lane closure of the northbound and southbound mainlanes from Harvey to Rock Prairie roads, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
- Both northbound and southbound lanes will be closed for dirt work in the center median, but the right lane will remain open for traffic.
- The southbound main lane from Harvey Road to Texas Avenue will also be closed for dirt work Aug. 4.
- Aug. 5: Single-lane daytime closure of the southbound frontage road left turn lane at Texas Avenue/Deacon Drive intersection, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- The turn lane will be closed for the installation of an underground structure, with traffic redirected to use the second turn on the southbound lane.
- A single-lane closure on the northbound mainlane from Rock Prairie Road to Southwest Parkway will also take place at 7:30 p.m. for center-median dirt work.
- The southbound mainlanes from University Drive to Harvey Mitchell Parkway will also be fully closed, with traffic being redirected to the mainlanes north of Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
- Aug. 6-7: Single-lane daytime closure of the southbound frontage road left turn lane at Texas Avenue/Deacon Drive intersection, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- The turn lane will be closed for the installation of an underground structure, with traffic redirected to use the second turn on the southbound lane.
- The northbound and southbound mainlanes from Harvey to Rock Prairie roads will also be reduced to a single lane for dirt work in the center median, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
- The northbound Texas Avenue ramp will also be closed for paving work starting at 7:30 p.m.
