The Texas Department of Transportation announced a shutdown of all northbound Loop 610 West lanes between Hwy. 59 and Richmond Avenue this weekend that will run from 9 p.m. Dec. 10 through 5 a.m. Dec. 13.

Two additional southbound lanes will be closed on Loop 610 West at Hwy. 59 over that same time.

The new additions are part of ongoing changes to the interstate that also included last month's reopening of the ramp between Hwy 59 and the 610 Loop. The project’s goal is to increase the safety of drivers going between Hwy. 59 and Loop 610.

The construction aims to improve drivers' line of sight and reduce lane movement between one the city’s busiest interchanges. The changes are part of the city’s wider $259 million highway projects.
