The METRO Police Department (MPD) introduced a new mobile unit that will help decentralize its resources and travel to areas where services are needed.
The specifics
MPD unveiled its Mobile Operations Command Center (MOCC) at its first location, Moody Park, on Oct. 8. Through the MOCC, MPD officers will provide services and assistance where they are needed.
The MOCC, which is an RV-style vehicle, includes workstations, communication systems and space for officers to meet with members of the public, take reports and coordinate activities in real time.
The command center comes equipped with its own camera system, which includes live surveillance and drone capabilities.
