All northbound main lanes of I-69 Southwest Freeway at I-610 West Loop will be closed throughout the upcoming weekend, the Texas Department of Transportation announced May 5.

From May 7 at 9 p.m. until May 10 at 5 a.m., the lanes will be closed as crews work to reconfigure the I-69 Southwest Freeway northbound main lanes at I-610 West Loop to make room to begin building the foundations for the future ramp that will connect I-69 north to I-610 north, as well as the new ramp for I-69 south to I-610 south.

In order to make room for the new foundations, when the I-69 lanes reopen May 10, the roadway will go from four lanes to three lanes right at I-610 and open back up to four lanes after I-610.

The closure comes as crews work on the $259 million I-69/I-610 interchange project, which seeks to significantly enhance safety and improve mobility by widening the connector ramps to two lanes, increasing sight distances and providing remedies to eliminate weaving.
